Hello! My apologies for taking so long to post! Report card season has been keeping me busy! So I have a lot of ground to cover, this will be a long post. Upcoming Events: - Thursday Jan 25th at 5:30pm is Movie Night at Johm McCrae. Come early if you want a decent spot. - Friday Jan 26th is a PD Day. No school! - Feb 2nd is Healthy Snack Day in Ellis/Miller's room (see more below) - Feb 14th is Valentine's Day (see more below) - Feb 21 is Jan Sherman's visit (see more below) - Mar 1 is Wild Ontario visit (see more below) L'ours Léo is coming (if he hasn't already) Our take home teddy bear program has started! Some of you have already had a visit with Léo and by the sounds of it, he has had a blast in your homes. Merci for being so welcoming! For those of you still awaiting to meet our beloved teddy bear, he is making the rounds (2 days at a time, in alphabetical-ish order). When you do get a chance to visit, please feel free to take photos or have your child draw pictures in the journal. So far we haven't had anything for the kids to admire (and they keep asking!). As an aside, I did not get a chance to hand sew our teddy bear. If you were one of the people who sent in a swatch of fabric, please let me know and I can send it back. Sun Art I recently acquired a Sun Art Photography kit that allows us to "take pictures" with photographic paper. The idea is that the students hold down an object to the paper for a few seconds in the bright sunlight and when the paper develops, they are left with a silhouette of the object. My hope was that everyone could bring in an object by the end of next week and we can use it to take a picture. The only qualities that it needs to meet are that it has to be relatively small (no larger than 4") and ideally it will have some neat details that will make the picture more interesting. Some examples would be pine branches, keys, feathers etc. Healthy Snack Day - Feb 2 Mme Miller and I have decided to continue our cooking sessions with the students. This time around, we will be making healthy animal snacks. The base of the snack will either be apple slices, rice cakes or gluten-free toast. On top of that we will be spreading WOW butter. On top of that we will use fruit to make the faces. I'm hoping to have some volunteers who are willing to donate food items to the class. Please comment in the space below if you are willing to purchase any of the following: -1 bag of apples -a bunch of bananas -a large box of blueberries -bag of grapes -a box of strawberries -2 bags of large plain rice cakes -a loaf of GF bread -a tub of WOW butter THANK YOU!! Valentine's Day So this year we are not going to be doing anything special for Valentine's Day. I understand that some of the students enjoy bringing in cards for their friends, but we won't be dedicating time in the day to pass our cards. If you would like to send in cards, you are welcome. We will simply send them home in their sac-en-plastiques. Names: Andrew, Ariya, Armaan, Ayana, Carter, Dave, Emile, Emily, Ethan, Hadley, Hawkins, Henry, Jack, Joe, Johnny, Levi, Lucas, May, Miles, Noah, Penny, Saige, Sevi, Vivian, Wyn Jan Sherman - Feb 21 She will be leading a drumming session. There is a $2 charge. Thanks. Wild Ontario Birds - Mar 1 A family member of one of our students has kindly offered to sponsor this program in our school with the kindergartens and the Grade 3's. They will be bringing in wild birds to show the kids!
