Indigo, 12 Days of Giving, Lost and Found, Holiday picnic & Pancakes
The 12 Days of Giving - As our school community reaches out to help those in need this season, please consider supporting our efforts by sending in a donation of the following any time between December 3rd and 14th:
Lost and Found - Please check out the tables of student lost and found items when you are visiting us this Thursday and Friday for parent/teacher interviews. Any items that remain after December 14th will be donated. Indigo Library Fundraiser - Wednesday, November 28, 5-8 pm. 20% of regular-priced, in-store purchases will come back to the school. Holiday Picnic - Is happening Thursday December 13th from 11-12:30. As in previous years, we will host a picnic-style social and have the class sing a few songs. Please bring your own lunch and we will provide a few snacks. Hope you can make it! Pancake & Pyjama Breakfast : As it turns out, our class was one of the top fundraisers in the whole school for the Dance-a-thon! So BRAVO to all the families and friends who went out there and raised money! We were completely shocked to hear our class called out on the announcements this week as a winner! Our prize will be a pancake breakfast served by our very own Mme Newman. Mme Miller and I thought it might be fitting to turn it into a pyjama day as well. This will be happening next week - on Wednesday Dec 5th. Teacher Gifts - In preparation for the holidays the thought of buying us a gift may have crossed your mind. In lieu of gifts, Mme Miller and I would like to request donations to the classroom either in the form of games/puzzles or gift cards to the dollar store etc. We are constantly adding to our collection because, as it turns out, kindergarten kids can be quite destructive:) Thanks in advance for thinking of us. Melissa

Bonjour everyone!
Welcome to the season of snow! Thank you to everyone for sending in their children in proper attire. We are doing our best to keep track of mittens, hats etc! If something does get lost it may take a few days to find it! Please remember to sign up for interviews starting Tuesday afternoon. (Pls see previous post). Again, if you wish to meet at an alternate time just let me know. On another note, when you are here we will ask you to pls check the lost and found as well as the spare clothing bins that we have in the classroom. We actually don't have many sets of spare clothes and some of them are still shorts from the fall. Also, just to let you know, Mme Miller and I will both be away on Thursday Nov 22 for training. Hopefully the day goes smoothly. Payments should be up and running on the school cash website for both the Scientists in the School (happening on Monday) and the Museum field trip (Dec 7th). Please make sure you're payments are up to date or you'll be hearing from me! Speaking of Scientists in the School, so far I have Leisha, Steve, Preethi, Sarah L and Lucy as volunteers. Please let me know ASAP if you can no longer make it because I will need 5 people for sure. And now on to the fun stuff! As many of you know, Mme Miller and I are dedicated to providing culinary experiences for the students. On Nov 29th, we will be making pinwheels with them and are hoping you can help to provide a few ingredients. Below is a list of ingredients that we will need. Please use the comment boxes if you are able to help. Jour de Souvenir As you know our Remembrance Day ceremony is coming up. On Friday we will be walking to John McCrae House with the rest of the students at our school to partake in the ceremony. It will run between 10:30-11:30. Family members are welcome to attend but please be advised that there will be no seating. Standing room only. Our class will be singing a short song with the rest of the kindergarten students. I will do my best to videotape it for those of you who can't attend. Photo Retake Today Today is also Photo Retake Day. If you would like your child's photo taken please make sure we are aware if you haven't done so already. Email myself if you need to at [email protected] Parent-Teacher Interviews The evening of Thursday, November 29th and all day Friday, November 30th have been set aside for parent/teacher interviews. All K to 8 interviews are booked ONLINE. Please follow the directions below to book an interview online with one, two, or all of your child’s teachers. Interviews are a wonderful opportunity for parents, teachers and students to work collaboratively to discuss, plan and set effective next steps for individual student achievement goals. Students are invited to attend the interview. Instructions for ONLINE booking: (available from November 20th at 4pm to November 29th at noon) 1: Visit: https://webapps.ugdsb.on.ca/InterviewSchedule/Account/Login 2: Input student’s OEN# (found at the top of the student’s report card) - I WILL SEND THIS HOME IN THE COMMUNICATION BAG TODAY FOR OUR YEAR 1 STUDENTS 3: Input student’s date of birth 4: From “Teacher List” select which teacher(s) you would like an interview with. 5. Select “Show Appointment Schedule”. 6. Select time(s) and choose “Book Appointment”. Mme Miller and I would like you to know that we are also available before and after school if that's any easier. We actually prefer not to be completely booked on interview days if possible! Please let us know if that suits your schedule and we will do our best to accomodate. JUNGLE FEVER Lastly, although the students were pretty sad to see the haunted house come down, they are pretty excited for our next adventure to the RAINFOREST! Mme Miller and I (and some lucky volunteers) will be prepping our next centre with jungle adventurers in mind. If you have anything at home that would fit the bill for a jungle and you don't mind sending it in, please do! We are specifically looking for adventurer items like binoculars, vests, maps but also any rainforest animals (monkeys, snakes, lizards, tropical birds etc). Please keep in mind that anything that you do send in might get broken. Merci! Have a great rest of the week. Melissa |
