Bibliothèque:
This week the students should have brought home their first book from the library. Our library day will be Day 2 of the cycle from now on. So next week it will be Wednesday the 27th followed by Thursdays after that until the next long weekend! Colour House: Today we are having an assembly to inform classes about which colour house they are in. Every month we do an assembly called Tribu that talks about characted education (e.g., honesty, belonging etc) and students are placed in a colour house. Ours is PURPLE. On these days, students are asked to wear our colour to show their support. After our assemblies, we always join forces with our Grade 7 reading buddies to run activities about character education. Lost and Found: A reminder to check the lost and found for any lost items. The box is located at the end of our hallway near the exit to the yard. The box is already getting full! Next week: Photos are Sept 27th, first thing in the morning Terry Fox run/walk is Sept 28th PD Day Sept 29th Merci!

1. The volunteer schedule is done! Thank you to everyone who submitted their forms! If you haven't yet, don't worry I'll still take it! So it looks like we will have LOTS of volunteers this year! YAY! Please check the calendar to make sure I put you down for times that you are available. If for some reason you can't make a particular day please write us a note to let us know. If your time slot falls on a holiday or a PD Day (I'm talking mostly to you, Ingrid!) and you would like to make it up another day just let me know.
2. Please note the OPEN HOUSE is Tuesday Sept 19th at 5:30 and DOT DAY is this Friday! 3. New students are welcome to send in a family picture . 4. You should have received a Scholastics order this week. Each purchase from these flyers gives our class points towards new books and resources. To facilitate payment, Scholastics offers a parent pay online system. The orders for September will be due Sept 18th. Merci in advance! 5. Lastly, if you weren't aware, the board has created an app called Upper Grand District School Board to try to facilitate communication and payment systems. Check it out:) The first week went really really well! Our SKs were very excited to meet their new JK buddies and the JKs, for the most part, did very well! We had very few tears:)
I'm going to be posting some picutres in the "Picture section" today, so please check it later. Monach Butterflies: I have been thinking about taking in some caterpillars, but I have not yet had time to find any. So, if you're out and about this weekend and happen to see some in the parks etc, please feel free to collect a few for our class! Just please be careful NOT to take any that are already hanging in a curled position. We don't want to disturb the cocoon process. Dot Day! This Friday is DOT DAY! We will be spending the whole day playing and making dots. Your child is welcome to wear any dot clothing:) Thank you to those who have donated supplies and brought in spare clothing and blankets! I hope everyone has a great second week! Welcome back SKs! Et bienvenue aux maternelles! We have a fun filled year ahead of us! Lots of art, math, science, outdoor fun, field trips...and of course, FRENCH! Mme Miller and I are excited to get started! For those of you who are returning, please note that I did NOT send home a colorful flipbook this year in order to save on paper. Most of it is regurgitated info from last year, except for the part about lunches. FYI this year we will be spitting up the class for their nutrition breaks in order to reduce exposure to allergens for one of our students. I have uploaded the flipbook under the "Forms and docs" page if you want to take a look. Also, as a note to everyone, my voicemail extention is now 414, which has changed from what I had written in the flipbook. Sorry, I just got this info after printing everything. I should also mention that I'm not great with voicemail. Pretty lousy, actually. So you're best bet to contact me is the communication book or email. I think that covers logisticals. Here's hoping for NO TEARS on Thursday and Friday when the JKs start! For now, Mme Miller and I will be enjoying re-connecting with all the "big" kids - who are now role models for their JK buddies. Buddies: Miles & Noah ---- Johnny Henry & Emily ---- Dave Jack --- Armaan Saige --- Vivian Madysen & Emile --- Andrew Penny ---- May Joe --- Lucas Carter --- Ayana Ethan --- Ariya Hawkins --- Raihana Levi --- Wyn Hadley & Neveah --- Sevi Vive la rentrée! Happy back to school! Mme Ellis A quick reminder to those of you who haven't subscribed to the blog, please do so on the right hand side of the screen! That way, you'll receive emails when it's updated. |
