Hi everyone,
So the weather is not looking great for Thursday. Please dress the kids for rain! For the volunteers, you should have received a parking pass in the communication bag (yellow sheet of paper). Please let me know if you still need one. We plan to arrive at the zoo around 10am. Our class is going to take the tour bus at 11:45am but they have asked us to be there 20 min early. So please be ready to board the bus at 11:25. The bus ride is about an hour. We will be leaving the zoo by 2pm. Here is a map if you would like to see what activities are available: https://lionsafari.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/ALS_MAP2017_web-1.pdf I will be driving my own vehicle, but here is the list of people who will be on the bus in the morning. Please let me know if I forgot someone! I hope you're all enjoying your weekend. A few things to mention: Pond Plates is this Wednesday May 22nd in the morning. I'm still looking for one more volunteer. Please let me know if you can make it for 8:30am-10:15. Thank you to everyone! We're all paid up. May 23rd 5:30-6:30pm is the Kindergarten Open House for students arriving in JK in the fall. If you have younger siblings coming in September please join us! May 28th both Mme Miller and myself are in training all day. Although we're still in the school, the students will have supply teachers. May 30th is AFRICAN LION SAFARI! Thank you to eveyone for being so diligent with payments. Makes my life much easier. I don't think I mentioned that the $18 volunteer fee is also online. A few of you still have to pay for that. Also, please let me know if you plan on taking your child with you in the car. I still have to mark them as present on the attendance. Seeing as there's so many of you joining us there will be no groups to watch. Just watch your own child. June 6th is Family Fun Night. You should be receiving paperwork about that soon. I signed us up to donate items related to reading for the gift basket that will be auctioned off. So if you would like to send in books (kids), gift cards, reading lights, book marks etc that would be appreciated! I'm still waiting to book our End of Year Family picnic.. I'll get back to you on that. June 26th is Water Play day (rain or shine!). They will need bathing suits, towels, hats and sunscreen! Lastly, I have a sneak peak to share with you. The T-shirts that you all purchased will be tye dyed toward the end of the year and imprinted with their portraits that they did way back in the fall. They turn out so cute!
Hi everyone,
Some classroom news: I'm hopefully going to get some chick eggs this week. I've been planning on hatching eggs with them for close to a year but only just found out that the board incubators are discontinued. Turns out there's a lot of red tape to go through for incubation in schools. So...I'm going to try it without an incubator. I've heard it's possible! Wish me luck! We are going ahead with pretzel making on Thursday. Between dough rising and everything it's going to take all day. Don't forget that Friday is pyjama day. A new event to tell you about: Pond Plates. You may have seen this posted online and I forgot to mention it. We will be painting our own pond plates on May 22nd in the morning under the direction of a professional. There is a $15 cost. We try to limit the cost of all the events throughout the year so please let me know if this is not within your budget because arrangements can be made. Having said that, this is a pretty fun event and you get a plate you can keep forever! For this event I am looking for 4 volunteers from 8:30-10:30. Please comment below if you would like to help! Merci and bonne semaine à tous! Melissa In case you were planning to come on Thursday for open house, this event is not for Kindergarten. If you have children in other grades, please feel free to visit their classrooms but our doors will be closed.
If you haven't been to our room in a while, you are invited to pop by at any time next week to visit and join in on whatever we are doing at the time. We also want to remind you that we have a special picnic coming up at the end of June to celebrate all of our hard work this year. Merci beaucoup! |
A little bit about Mme EllisI have worked in Guelph for 8 years and have been teaching for 12 years. It is my 6th year at John McCrae and I love it! I have 3 young kids at home, so I know exactly what you're going through! A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MS MILLER... I have been working as an ECE for 18 years and have a young child at home. This is my 6th year working with UGDSB, I am excited for the school year to get started and getting to know everyone. Hope everyone had a great summer! Archives
