Still waiting for a sock from everyone! Any old sock will do! We hope to begin making our classroom sock snake this week.
Also, if you haven't already, please send in a blanket, a spare change of clothes and indoor shoes. Merci!

One more thing! I hope to have the volunteer schedule up by the end of the week. Please check under the "Volunteer Calendar" tab for times. The schedule will be in effect starting Monday Sept 28. If you would like to be added to the calendar or change the time of your session, please contact Jen Watt. She will be updating the calendar for me. She can be reached at [email protected].
As many of you know already, I am expecting my third child in December. Which means that there will be a supply later in the year. Mme Miller would like you to know that she will do her best to keep the consistency with routines etc when the new teacher arrives (I'll have to teach her how to blog!). We likely won't know who that is until sometime in November. At that point, the kids should be settled in, so hopefully the transition will be smooth:) Just a reminder, if you haven't done so already, please sign up for the blog subscription if you would like to get an email every time the blog is updated. Just fill in your email address in the box on the right hand side of the screen.
We typically use the blog as our primary means of communication. Merci:) As far as I can tell (from the forms that have been returned), we have no food allergies in our classroom this year. However, the school is still nut free. Please refrain from sending in nut products. Suitable alternatives include Wow Butter and Sunflower Seed butter etc. Having said that, we do have certain students in the class with special diets. Therefore we will be doing what we did last year. In terms of celebrations, we will not be using food. I ask that you refrain from sending in any kind of food for birthdays or other holidays to share with the class. For those of you who are new, we typically have the students decorate their own t-shirt on their birthday. Should you need to contact us, please use the communication books or email. I admit to not checking my voicemail very often. If your child is absent, please call the school and leave a message with the office. Merci!
Thank you to all those who have generously donated classroom supplies and crafts! Our shelves are looking nicely stocked again. Please be aware that the list that was sent home was a SUGGESTION. You are not required to provide all materials! In fact, we take just about anything! We We appreciate the generosity.
There will be no open house this week. Mme Miller and I would like to encourage all parents (and grandparents!) to sign up to volunteer. We rely heavily on our volunteers and would love to have you!
I have posted some pictures of our first week with the JKs under the Photos tab. I must say, it's been a busy one! They have done very well adjusting to our new routines, but I think many of them are going to be tired from all the activities:) There were indeed a few tears shed but they seem like a lovely group all together! Mme Miller and I are very impressed!
We look forward to settling in some more next week. Have a well deserved weekend! Welcome to all the JKs! We are looking forward to getting to know all of you:) So far the staggered entry has gone well. No tears yet! Bravo! Wednesday is the BIG day, with everyone here all day. Our quiet little classroom is about to get super busy!
A few things to tell you about: 1. Please send in a change of clothes, a blanket for quiet time, a family photo and a change of shoes for inside. Please make sure EVERYTHING you send in is labelled with your child's name! Things do go missing from time to time and we do our best to track them down. Labels always help:) 2. We would like to make a class craft using socks. If each student could bring in one spare sock for Monday we can get started. Merci! 3. Please do your best to update, sign and send in all the forms as soon as possible. If you have any questions about anything, please let us know. 4. We have paired each of the JKs with an SK buddy to help with their transition. Buddies are responsible for showing them where to put their things and general routines. 5. Your child will have 3 other teachers this year. M Moore will be doing Music twice a week. Mme Hare and Mlle Beaton will also be involved with the class, doing similar activities to what we do. We also have library once a week, and gym twice a week. Our library day is Day 2, which currently falls on Wednesdays. You can check your school calendar to find the cycle days if you lose track. I've also posted the calendar under the "forms" section. 6. Mme Katsaounis/Mme Proude's class and ours have decided to stay outside for most of the day on Fridays. We normally spend a good portion of the day outside, but Fridays we will spend about 2/3 outdoors. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately! Also feel free to send in sunscreen (labelled) and we can help to apply it. Again, if there are any questions, just ask! Mme Ellis |
