BRAVO PARTY (March 30) The Bravo jar has finally been filled! Which means...party time! So the kids opted to do an ice cream party on Thursday of this week. I'm going to have them make their own yogurt pops on Wednesday so they will be ready for Thursday. (Yogurt + fruit + popsicle sticks and freeze!) We'll also put on a movie in the afternoon. If you would like to send in fruit for the party, please feel free. Speaking of ice cream, they have also chosen to change out dramatic play centre into an ice cream parlour. If anyone has empty ice cream containers, please send them in. Garden Quilt Project (April 7) All of the John McCrae Kindergarten classes will be participating in a multi-day "Garden Quilt Project" with artist-educator, Christina Kingsbury. This special project is funded in part through the Ontario Arts Council. We are asking that each student pay $5 to cover the remaining costs. Christina will have 4 separate visits with each class. During these visits we will be learning about biodiversity, pollination and recycling. Some of the activities include collecting seeds and plant material, creating hand made seed paper and sewing insect sculptures. It is preferable if you can make payments online. You may also send $5 cash to school with your child. Thank you for supporting this exciting project. Scientists in the School (April 20) As mentioned earlier, we are still looking for volunteers for this event. So far we only have one (thank you Amy!). It would be great if we had 3 more. Please let me know if you can attend. FYI Rainbow Day (April 10) and Pink Day (April 12) are also coming up! Kindergarten Yard We are looking at fixing up our yard to make it more awesome. Here is a list of things we are looking for. If you know anyone who might have these items (or you have them yourself), can you please let me know and we can arrange pickup etc.
Thanks so much for considering any of these items. We really appreciate all of your help and support!!!

Hello again!
I just wanted to make sure that everyone is dressed appropriately for tomorrow's trip. If you haven't checked the weather, it looks like rain, rain, rain! So please send boots, raincoats and umbrellas if possible. We will be outside for much of the day. Also, I wanted to be clear about the volunteers that we have signed up. It seems my previous communication may have missed some people. Tomorrow, we are expecting many volunteers! Thanks in advance to Nichole, Marissa, Lenyvie, Alaina, Ingrid, Lindsey, Meaghan, Jess, Sarah and Alexandra. Get ready to get wet! Merci and have a great weekend, Mme Ellis 1. For those who had ordered pizza on Friday, we have arranged for the kindergarten students to get theirs on Thursday instead. We know how dissappointed they would be if they missed out because of the field trip!
2. Scientists in the School will be coming Thursday April 20th. I'm looking for 4 volunteers. Let me know if you can make it first thing in the morning for a few hours. 3. I've been meaning to put out an official invite to any parents/grandparents who may be interested in leading the class in an activity or short lesson! Considering the success of the last guest speaker, I think the students would be thrilled to have more people in the classroom. Personally I think they're also tired of listening to me:) If you would like to come in to lead an activity of your choice (e.g., planting, weaving, crafting, cooking something) or read a story, sing a song, teach a lesson etc, Mme Miller and I would love to have you! Please write me a note and we can hopefully work out a time. The classes run from 8:35-10:40 and again from 11:15-12:45. You can do something for 15 minutes or for an hour. We're super flexible. Hope to hear from you! Merci, Mme Ellis |

I have 3 young kids at home, so I know exactly what you're going through! A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MS MILLER... I have been working as an ECE for 18 years and have a young child at home. This is my 6th year working with UGDSB, I am excited for the school year to get started and getting to know everyone. Hope everyone had a great summer! Archives
