1. In my haste yesterday I grabbed some cash from someone's sac-en-plastique. It was $10 and I believe it was for Terry Fox, but the form was not filled out. So now I have no idea who gave us money! Please let me know!
2. We are still missing 9 field trip forms. Right now we have 7 volunteers, which is great! 3. The Thanksgiving Food Drive is underway. Please send in non-perishables if you can! 4. La journée des pommes (Apple Day) will be October 5th! We plan on making applesauce. If you could please send in an apple with your child we magically turn it in to sauce! If anyone would like to volunteer, please let me know! We'll start first thing in the morning at 8:35:)

Thanks to everyone who made it out last night, it was a pretty full classroom! I apologize to the families I didn't get to touch base with. I will soon, I promise!
I had a slideshow all ready to go, but the internet decided to crash yesterday. So click here to see everything we've been up to! Have a great weekend. Thanks to everyone who sent in forms! I'm still missing a few. You will be getting email shortly if I haven't received all your forms.
Dot Day went off fantastically and we've already celebrated our first birthday of the year! I'll put some more pictures up. Our JKs are slowly starting to get a hang of the routines. Packing our own bags and knowing where to go at the end of the day have been the biggest lessons!! But they're getting it:) Family Photos: Please send in (or email me) a family photo! Merci. Fire Drills: With the nice weather we will be having some fire drills in the upcoming weeks. We have already talked to them about it, but reinforcement from home for our younger kids is always a good idea! Bibliotheque & Reading Buddies: We will be starting both of these next week. We're running a little behind as I had to reschedule our library period. We will now be having library on Day 5 (currently Monday), and reading buddies with the Grade 7's on Day 3 (currently Thursday). Mlle Pangos: For those of you who haven't met her, she is teaching the kindergartens math this year. She should be available during the Open House on Thursday if you would like to meet her. She's the only other teacher they have besides Mme Miller and I. Gym: We will be starting today with our first gym period. It will continue on Day 1 of the cycle (currently Tuesday). Communication: Please be aware that I don't often check my voicemail so please use email, telephone or the communication books to get in touch if there's anything you need. Below is a list of upcoming events (which are also listed int he calendar tab): Sept 20 from 5:30-7pm - Open House Sept 21 - Multicolored (Spirit) Day to kick of Spirit Assembly. Wear lots of colors! Sept 26 - Photo Day Sept 27 - Terry Fox Run Sept 28 - PA Day Oct 1 - Orange Shirt Day Oct 4 - St Andrew's Scenic Acres Field Trip Oct 8 - Thanksgiving Holiday Finally, I wanted to give you a run-down on the trips we have planned for the year so you can plan ahead. Please let us know if cost is an issue, we have funding for select families. These are not exact costs but more general "guess-timates" based on pricing in the past. This list does not include school-wide events for fundraising.
Mme Miller and I had a great time getting to know some of our new friends this week! Surprinsingly, there were very few tears or "I miss my mommy". I put a few pictures up in the picture section.
This week we look forward to getting to know everyone even more! Our SK buddies have been doing a fantastic job thusfar helping everyone. Merci, les grands! A few things to note: 1. Mme Miller and I have decided to spend time in the morning outside with the class in our own special spot at the edge of the forest behind the portables. This means that shortly after the bell rings, we will be heading to the forest. If you are running late and need to sign in your child at the office, please make sure to walk them behind the portables to find us. Thanks! 2. Dot Day is this Fridy Sept 14th! Please wear dots if you have them! 3. The Open House will take place Sept 20th 5:30-7pm 4. Please click here to sign up for volunteering. I will post a schedule soon. 5. Thank you to everyone who sent in forms promptly. We are only missing a few. Unfortunately, there will be more forms coming your way this week. But that should be it, I promise! Welcome and welcome back to all of our students this week! I hope everyone had a great summer!!
If your child is in Grade 1 this year please take this time to unsubscribe from the blog at the bottom of the email. Best of luck to all of our Grade 1 friends! As for the rest of you, this is a big week. On Thursday and Friday we get to meet our new JK friends. Mme Miller and I have already starting prepping the SKs on how to be big buddies (e.g., helping them line up and unpacking their bags). They are very excited about being big buddies! So the next few weeks will be dedicated to building friendships and establishing classroom routines. I was hoping to investigate monarch butterflies again this year however I have been unsuccessful in finding any caterpillars. If you happen to find any, please send them our way! Have a great first week! Stay tuned for more info. |

This is my 6th year working with UGDSB, I am excited for the school year to get started and getting to know everyone. Hope everyone had a great summer! Archives
