This week is anti-bullying week. We are talking about being kind to one another as this is an easier thing for young kids to understand. Today, Mme Newman (our principal) came into our class to read a story and have a discussion.
On Thursday, we will be encouraging kids to wear PINK on Thursday as a whole school. At this time it is important to understand the difference between bullying, meanness and being rude. Please see the article I came across on Facebook a while back: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/signe-whitson/bullying_b_2188819.html While we will be talking about bullying, we do not throw that word around lightly and we would like the kids to understand that as well. Typically, young kids don't have the capacity to bully each other. They can be mean, rude and do things to hurt one another but they do not maliciously focus on a specific student to cause harm to. We do take this issue very seriously and do not want kids calling each other bullies. Thanks for your help at home:) Mme Ellis
