Welcome back to everyone! We hope you had a restful and enjoyable break.
I just wanted to let you know that we don't have too many events planned for the next little while. January is unofficially dubbed the "report card writing month" so I will be busy getting that done. We also want to spend this week getting back into our routines. So we're taking it easy so to speak. Having said that, I do want to continue with our cooking tradition. On Thursday we will be making Greek New Year's Cake (Vasilopita). We will put money in their cake and the person who receives it is said to have good luck for the year. Mme Germann is still away for the unforseeable future. So for the moment, we have Mr. Kinley with us. He is familiar with the students from his time with them in December. This week I also hope to start our take-home backpack program. In the past, we have sent home a teddy bear (or another animal) for the kids to have at home. This year I thought I would change the program to incorporate cooking. Over the next few months the backpack will circulate to each student. I will ask you to record a recipe that you have done with your child in the journal along with a photo (which can be emailed separately to me if that's easier). Your child will then have the opportunity to present their experience with the class when they bring the backpack back. I will send it home in alphabetical order so that kids with names starting with A will receive it soon. Happy cooking!!

I have 3 young kids at home, so I know exactly what you're going through! A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MS MILLER... I have been working as an ECE for 18 years and have a young child at home. This is my 6th year working with UGDSB, I am excited for the school year to get started and getting to know everyone. Hope everyone had a great summer! Archives
