Apparently there were issues with the link that was sent out. Please try this one if you're having trouble:
https://webapp.ugdsb.on.ca/pti Sorry about that! You should be receiving your child's report card today. Inside the envelope are instructions to book an interview. It's all done online and is available as of 4pm today. Please return the brown envelope (empty) and I will reuse it for the next term's reports. Merci! Lost and Found is out! Please take a peek: Upcoming:
Scientists in the School (no cost): Monday Nov 25th Mountsberg Trip (please pay!): Thursday Nov 28th PD Day Nov 29th (sign up for interview) LItterless Lunch Dec 10th Holiday Concert for our class Dec 12th @ 1:30pm-3pm Tim Hortons The kids voted in favour of starting a Tim Hortons dramatic centre. We are hoping you can send in any spare socks in your home so we can make donuts with them first thing next week! Merci! Laces It seems that several students are now sporting indoor shoes with laces that they can't tie. It would be very helpful if you would consider purchasing special laces for these shoes. Here's a few ideas: Mountsberg Nov 28th Trip
You should be receiving permission forms for another trip at the end of the month. I just wanted to let you know that we normally don't do 2 trips in the fall so if that's a problem for you and you would like financial assistance please let us know. The school has some money reserved for this. Merci! Remembrance Day Ceremony
For those of you who are new this year, our school does a big ceremony at the McCrae House down the street. The kindergartens have a song that they will be singing. In the past, it has been quite cold so please keep in that in mind when they are getting dressed in the morning. We will be outside for some time between the walk there, singing and walking back. Parents and family are welcome so please be there early if you're planning to attend. It's a small venue with standing room only. The ceremony should start at 10:30am and go until about 11am. Following that, the entire school will be invited back to the gym for the rest of the ceremony. Our class will likely skip the gym portion. Parent-Teacher Interviews It's almost report card time! There is a PD Day at the end of November that is allocated to parent-teacher interviews (Nov 29th). However, Mme Miller and I find that it's sometimes quite busy when we have interviews one after the other. We wanted to let you know that we are available before and after school any day if you would prefer to have an interview at that time. Even if it's simply to touch base without the actual report card. Please let us know if that interests you and we can set something up. Holiday Concert We have booked our holiday concert on Dec 12th in the afternoon at 1:30pm. It will just be our class. Older siblings will likely be taking part in some performances the following week. Please come if you can! Vegetable Soup We will be making veggie soup on Nov 20th. If everyone could please bring in ONE vegetable (NOT A WHOLE BAG) that would be great! Scientists in the School We could still use one more volunteer on the 25th for Scientists in the School starting at 11:50am. Please let us know if you can manage! Thanks! Sorry! Typo!
Dance-a-thon starts at 12pm! Please come before that around 11:30am!! Pumpkin Day Tuesday Oct 29th we are doing a pumpkin day. We would like to carve some pumpkins with the kids from 11am-12:30. We would love to have some help! If you're interested, send me a note! Halloween/Dance-a-thon On Thursday you may send in their costumes (excluding any toy weapons if they have them). We are looking for help to get them dressed and undressed before and after the dance-a-thon. Parents are welcome! Our dancing session begins at 12:00. Please feel free to come around 11:30am if you can. No need to let me know. We will be sending them home in their school clothes. Again, just a reminder that we prefer no candy handouts for the class. Finally, we will also be preparing some ooey gooey sensory activities for the class during the day. So they may get messy! Booster Juice You should be receiving a form today, but in case it gets lost, you can order Booster Juice at http://www.boostyourlunch.com/ Upcoming Events: Nov 1st - PD Day Nov 13th - Police Visits Nov 15th - Picture Retakes Nov 20th - SK Vision Screening Nov 25th - Scientists in the School: Looking for 4-5 volunteers from 11.30am-3pm Nov 28th - Trip to Mountsberg (Owl Prowl). Forms are coming:) Nov 29th - PD Day Tomorrow's Trip:
So - it looks like there 100% chance of rain tomorrow! Obviously, please dress them appropriately. But please no umbrellas. (I told them to bring some but changed my mind). I think it will be too much to carry and too hard to figure out who is who with umbrellas. They will all get a pumpkin to take home. Picture Re-take Day is November 15th. Friday is a Tribes Assembly - please wear yellow if you have it. Food Drive!
It has started and will run until the 18th. This week is focussing on non-perishables and next week will be fruits, veggies and personal hygiene products. Thanks in advance! Volunteers for Apple Day Mme Miller and I are planning an Apple bonanza on the 18th of October. We will be making apple sauce and apple life cycle bracelets. We could probably use a hand. Is there anyone who is available in the morning from 8:30-10:00am? Hi everyone,
Just a quick note to ask that everyone comes to school prepared for rain tomorrow. We remain outside regardless of the rain unless of course it's pouring. Today I ran out of coats and splash plants. Please make sure everyone is ready to get wet tomorrow! Merci, Melissa |
A little bit about Mme EllisI have worked in Guelph for 8 years and have been teaching for 12 years. It is my 6th year at John McCrae and I love it! I have 3 young kids at home, so I know exactly what you're going through! A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MS MILLER... I have been working as an ECE for 18 years and have a young child at home. This is my 6th year working with UGDSB, I am excited for the school year to get started and getting to know everyone. Hope everyone had a great summer! Archives
